Dedication to Jarrod

When I look in your eyes it brings me back to the very day you were born, the very moment. The excitement, the pain, the tears of both, fear of the unknown and the joys of what was yet to come.

I remember the Doctor placing you on my chest, never a more precious moment in my life will I have.
I just held you, and with that nervous laugh, between the tears, I watched you stare up at me and blink those dark dark eyes, you focused and knew right then it was me. I was the one you grew inside, the one who's heart you grew right next door to. It was at that moment we both knew... we were together forever.

There would be paths to travel and hurtles to get over but we would be doing it together and that made it all ok. To date, we have traveled many a path and made it over many hurtles, we have had a life so full.

Tomorrow's are never guaranteed, which is why I am so grateful for all of the "todays" that we have.
One day I hope you will be looking into a set of dark eyes of your own and then you'll know.

So if you catch me looking at you in an odd sort of way or if you notice I'm getting lost in thought while your speaking to me about something so important... I am not ignoring you... I am absorbing you all over again. I am back there in time... I am remembering when I first looked in your eyes!

And someday, far from now, when God calls me home, I have asked but one thing of him...to please let me have my moment back, as I pass, nothing could bring me more peace.

I too have those moments. When I have those "moments" I think of them as gifts. It's the time when I can slow down and forget everything else and just be there. When I can look in their eyes and just "feel" my children. Nothing else matters in that moment. I will never forget the way I felt when E and G were born. The intense love that only a mother knows. It's a love that can move mountains.
I enjoy going in their rooms at night to watch them sleep. This is usually the time when I reflect on the day they were born, thinking about how much they've grown and how much time has passed already. I wonder if I'll still it when they're in their teens. I can't imagine not doing it! I thank God for giving me the gift to slow down and cherish my miracles. Thanks for sharing your feelings and reminding me of the bond we share!

I was just telling one of the girls (and many others recently) about your blog....you truly have a gift with feelings, thought, words, etc. (along with many other gifts of course).

Love, K

AWWW :) It was so refreshing to read something written by a mother that encompasses what I feel for my own daughter...
Bellisimo!!!
Sometimes it is very hard to capture those moments...
As Em grows more and more every day I have more and more moments...especially now...
Today was her very first picture day.
Do you remember J's very first picture day? Waiting..wondering...
Ahh...the little moment's that make up the path's that fill our hearts.
